About Us

Rahjah and Parker Curtis-Evans

Transformative Therapy was founded by Parker and Rahjah Curtis-Evans and opened on March 1st, 2021. It was built with a clear vision: to center the mental health needs of people who are often the last to be considered. Rahjah says, “I wish to be black AND queer everywhere I go. Too often, I feel misunderstood, like an outsider, or seen as taking up too much space.” Parker adds, “As someone who has a disability and is transgender, I have lots of appointments. Trusting doctors is hard, and finding a safe therapist has been a journey.” Rahjah adds, “We aim to be a place you can feel affirmed, seen, and safe and get the support you need without shrinking parts of yourself.”

Today, Transformative Therapy has a team of 22, all of whom hold the diverse identities of the clients we serve. We occupy most of the second floor at Wild Ferns Wellness Center, with eight therapy offices, a sensory room, a food pantry, a free clothing area, and harm-reduction supplies.

What we Promise

We Prioritize Ongoing Learning

Thinking about therapy and wondering, Will they understand me? Will I have to educate them? We’re intentional about ongoing training in anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive care, led by experts who share our identities. Since 2025, we have organized 20 required trainings for our team focused on subjects such as supporting trans clients, Latine clients, cross-racial therapy, sex therapy, supporting kinky clients, safety planning without involving the police, harm reduction, and more.

Your Comfort is Not a Burden

Have you ever avoided therapy because the expectation of direct eye contact is too uncomfortable? We get that! Fidgets, coloring books, sand trays, Play-Doh, sketch pads, and other activities are out for you to use as you please in our therapy rooms. Some of our therapists also offer sessions in our sensory room! Direct eye contact is not required, and safe stimming is welcome.

We Thought of You for Every Step

From our appointment request and intake forms to our food pantry, therapy rooms, and the center where our therapy practice is located, Wild Ferns Wellness Center, every step has been designed to center you. When you reach out to us, from our admin team, to our intake coordinator, to our therapists, you are talking to someone who almost certainly shares one or more of the identities you hold. Being ‘different’ is normal here, and that is just part of what makes therapy with us wonderful.

You Can Bring Your Whole Self

Who you love, how you think, how you identify, where you come from, and what you’ve lived through are all part of who you are and how they overlap. That mix is its own experience, and you can bring all or any of it to therapy with you.

We Value Feedback

If you have suggestions or feedback on ways we can make our practice even more accessible, let us know. We value feedback so much! If you had an experience with us or one of our therapists that did not sit well with you, please reach out. We will listen. This is so important to us. Our Director, Parker, can be reached directly at parker@transformativetherapycs.com. Please include how you would like to hear back: email, phone call or virtual meeting.
